This is a long article, which I think affects all (QL) movie makers. I will cut the main article down, for the full article please click on "more..." or on "comments".
I never had trouble speccing a game while demoing it.
But now, there is this awesome free game called QuakeLive. Some minor details left alone, this is basically a copy of vQ3.
Except... any person in the game has some "admin" capabilities. All players can /callvote for a map, a shuffle of the teams, or... kick a player. In Q3 you have admins who actually have rights to the server, in QL it´s a wild, wild west. Anyone can cast a vote.
For some reason, spectators are simply loathed by some players in QL. Any spec just has to leave or join a game, no matter how the teams are balanced, or how many slots are still open.
I know this has been an issue for quite some time, and people have been asking id for "spectator slots" in servers, but at the moment there aren't any.
As soon as you don´t play yourself, you´re bound to be kicked from the server. And from experience, I can say most players don´t make demos. So anything you can grab is a bonus.
I'm wondering if anyone collecting demos has encountered the same problems. Obviously not while playing themselves, but when in spec it becomes rather tiresome getting kicked a few times in a row just for demoing.
What are the experiences of other movie makers? Do they get kicked as well, or is it somehow just me? Did I perhaps join the wrong server and met the wrong people to interact with?

Brand new Q3 freestyle trickmovie (well... a few days old), featuring breacH and Dem0oo0N.
For all those who aren't familiar with Q3 tricking, this is a movie which is very accessible.
So in this movie, this is very true: "The aim of this movie is to show clearly in a dynamic way our tricks".
It has been some time since I've been impressed by tricks that are just amazing.
But it goes further than just the tricks themselves. The editing is clean, the colour correction is responsible for some nice eye candy, transitions are nice too. The use of Q3mme is very smart here - it has been used in countless movies, but sometimes it feels like a roller coaster, or the focus gets out of the frame. In this movie, the important bits are shown constantly, which makes it easier for people new to this kind of movie to follow the action. Synching is good, especially the Windowlicker part - but it depends on your taste. All efforts put into this movie pulls you more into it.
Simply put: This movie is an Instant Classic.

Its been awhile since I've deployed out a new version.. but I've just pushed out the new version of the website which includes the Tagging ability to videos. You can now tag a video with as many tags as you want. Enjoy!
I will be working on expanding searching and listing out videos in the future. but for now I'm going to try to get the site more stable. Stay tuned for more updates!
Edit: Also sometime in the future expect streaming support from partner websites as well as a revamped mirror system.

Been thinking about this feature for a long time and now I'm finally starting to move on it. This new feature will change how videos are categorized on the website. I am going to remove the Type and Game attributes to videos and Add a "Category" attribute. This category attribute will allow users to fill in one or more Category Tags such as "Quake 3" or "TrickJumping". All the existing videos will automatically have the type and game category put into this new field.
This will also lead to changing how videos are listed on the main videos page and will lead to new search functionality where you can search by multiple categories.
More to come with this feature soon but wanted to put the info out there.
No release date scheduled, but this will involve some big changes to the site, so don't expect this to be released tomorrow.

Looks like the website won't be closing for good after all. I will be spending the next couple days getting this site back in order. Please be patient as I get this site up and running on the new host.
Thanks for all for the support the past 2 weeks.

Yet another unoriginally entitled movie, might you think, and you will be perfectly right! But the complains about that movie will stop there, because there is no other one. Even if it is not he case, that movie can be seen as a sequel to W3sp strafe. Same player, same editor, same editing style, and still totally insane. There are some really amazing runs, difficult to believe they are not scripted, but w3sp is famous for being a pro, not a cheater, so enjoy the show, especially the last run that makesthe best runs ou have ever seen look noob. To be honnest, you don't pay attention at all to the editing at first, because you are too focused on the runs, but when you watch it again, you notice there are some nice stuffs, and that the job was perfectly done: show the runs, and how good they are, even if you don't know the maps at all So I personnally want to thank kos and w3sp again for making me feel so noob, and for this amazing show.

Nexoge just released his latest, possibly greatest and if he's to be believed, last quake 3 video "Morning Never Came".
With a unique set of visual eyecandy, a relaxed, downbeat soundtrack and it's unmistakable production quality, this is a must have for every fan out there.
Wether Quake or Unreal is your cup of tea, be sure to get this!
