Heya, I wrote this tutorial about creating transitions for gamemovies using Matinee.
*56k warning* Heavy page (nearly 6mb) due to animated gifs.

Let me know what you think or if you have any additions.

thing is that i don't think that you can incorporate Matinee into demos taken from the ut2004. so a midair rocket during a match could not be presented in this manner. I'm sure something similar to the Matinee abilities could be pulled off using defrag, such as the background blending.

As stated, the demos are still demos and still almost fully worthless. You can make some very amazing scenes with the matinee editor, but if you want to incorporate them into a movie (not machinima) that has, say, frags, it takes extra time tricking the viewer to believe it's the same scene.
It's really evolved, though. Originally used in Unskilled][ by seiM, people like base have really made it worthwhile to learn. Base presented the technique painfully well in his movie, which I think is revolutionary.
I am bookmarking this and when exams are finished and it's summertime i'll be sure to do some hardcore learning, thanks so much for making the tutorial. |

Thanks Base! This would really help to raise the bar in upcoming UT2k4 movies. And I would certainly have a go at learning this. :D
BTW are you making a ut2k4 TDM frag movie? plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz :)

i managed to make a fade from one map to another just by recording a serverside demo with me jumping around and just take the cam from behind, looked ok, but with that TUT you got there its possible to make it perfect, very nice. |
You can script a bot yes, and trigger the stuff while the matinee scene starts, so thats a yes :D, dunno bout dodging, i dont think dodging is possible (maybe it is, look at the animations i think in the ut editor) , but i only know a few possibilities, walking and shooting is possible, need to experiment more with it :D (i know practically everything is possible if you know maya/3d max and motionbuilder and import stuff but thats too much work, i d keep it on animations and textures that are delivered within ut editor)..... Base the matinee master will know, and i really hope he wil lstart making a project soon :D.
PS, tutorial r0x
