If you arent willing to do the search yourself and plan to make the movie fast and easy, the movie will be crap too like you think of fraps.

like i said, there are more than enough tut's for how to use this command,
cl_avidemo 30 for example makes 30 screenshots per second (i don't think that theres a pc which could handle this smooth)

then u need a programm like bmp2avi.exe to make short videos out of the screens.

afaik are u able to get better quality with avidemo than with fraps, but i dunno exactly ;)

cl_avidemo will slow down your system.. (it is not called lag ffs) It doesn't matter how fast your computer runs while cl_avidemo is on.. cl_avidemo slows down your game to capture your desired framerate.. depending on what kind of system you have and how well it performs will determine how slow it goes. even todays new computers will not go at 125 fps while cl_Avidemo 30 is on.. which is why you only use this command in demos.. not in game.

cl_avidemo 30 will produce a image sequence with a framerate of 30 frames per second. after you cl_avidemo you can then use bmp2avi or vdub to render the sequence to a video. after that its up to your editing skills to work it from there.

This has always been the best process for games that support this feature.. because the game engine spits out the images in uncompressed format (the very best) and its up to you to crap them up.. where as in fraps.. it will be slower/faster than realtime (depending on your machine) and it ads compression which ultimately plays with the quality of your video.

"its up to you to crap them up"

hahaha, how true

Away! away! for I will fly to thee,
Not charioted by Bacchus and his pards,
But on the wings of poesy,
Though the dull brain perplexes and retards

 Exactly.
Try to use my movie making cfg and play around with it. :)

Cl_avidemo isnt lagg... Its just makes your game slower to capture ur frame rate. cl_avidemo 30 makes 30 frames per second, cl_avidemo 120 makes 120 frames per second, etc.... While your recording you shouldnt run any other programs such as: games, MSN, Xfire, etc...
