http://www.shaolinproductions.org/content/view/50/46/ This tutorial will explain how you can properly use the dumpframes command in the ut2004 engine. Let me know of any problems that may be in it. You can contact me at #t-hub on quakenet if u have any questions or concerns. |

well:
Turn up all the detail in ut2004 Make sure demo's are recorded @ 60 fps instead of the standard 30 fps. U can do this by changing this in the ut2004.ini NetServerMaxTickRate=30 LanServerMaxTickRate=30
into
NetServerMaxTickRate=60 LanServerMaxTickRate=60
Next thing u need to do is make a bind for your dumpframes: typ this in console: set input insert dumpframes start set input home dumpframes stop
u can chose other keys though (and watch out cause TAM overwrites the Home-key with a menu. So what i do is make 2 different ini's: one for playing and one for recording)
Next thing u need to do is watch your demo and when u want to record u press 'insert'. The framedumping will begin and u'll notice your game will run very slow. That's normal :) When u want to stop with recording just press 'Home' :)
Then u exit ut2k4 and use Virtualdub http://www.virtualdub.org/
U open video, select the first .bmp which can be found in the SS-folder (c:/ut2004/screenshots). Virtualdub automaticly selects the other .bmp's. Save as .avi and u've got yourself a videofile :) |

And one thing - if you want to make something with your brand new video in other programs - don't use any compression, just uncompressed avi - then You get properly quality - on weak PC's uncompressed avi lagged during play - don't be suprised then, after editing You can compress it with any codec You like and then video works and looks OK :)
as mine ;) :)))))) |

Yes, this is a good question, in user.ini we have sth like:
[Screenshots]
ShotMask=Shot%c
ShotCount=1
ShotDir=../ScreenShots
But i made meny modifications of that section, and it doesnt work, even if u delete last string, game will create that dir (/UT2004/ScreenShots) on the begining of dumpframing.
No information about ScreenShots in registry also in other game system files :P
...magic?

NetServerMaxTickRate=60 LanServerMaxTickRate=60
these two settings only belong only to the .demo4 files [Engine.DemoRecDriver]. when they are @60 the files will be much bigger. if u want to record ur demo in normal speed without any slomo, 30fps is more than enough. the problem is that the files really only include 30fps >> if u slow down while playing on 1/2 speed, only 15frames are shown. (visiible via: stat fps) i demorec on the normal settings.
OT: to do bindings: look for a key that u dont need ( i took: 7)and type in: 7=say "whatever u want" there are signs u cant use, for example this one | .
