New to video making. I need advice, tips, pointers, etc.reply | view profile | pm | quote
Hilu!

I am very new to video editing. I know basic stuff like compressing in virtualdub, capturing from q3/ql. Some basic knowledge of codecs but no fancy stuff.

So I've got my demos, I've captured a bit and just fiddled around trying to figure out video vegas but it's not going so well.
The rendering part is just kicking my ass all over the place as the filesize is huge and even if I use xvid or h.264 I just don't get
it down as much as I do when using virtualdub. Also don't really know much about the codecs other than bitrate. The rest is greek to me.

I've read tutorials and guides around the forums here and other places, but they seem to take some prior knowledge for granted and I am stumped. So is there any newbie friendly guides anyone could point me to?

I would appreciate any help you could give me :)

in a nut shell for your specific problem: render out of vegas uncompressed, then compress in something else (vdub/megui)

Ahha~ in my experience I have also tried to use some species of video converter developed by different soft companies. In fact you can use the product from itoolsoft , dvd to avi easier to operate and more practically for you, the best worthy to mention is the lower price. Here I share my pleasure and hope there are some help to you, maybe just a bit!
