How is the 'video of the day' selected?

The video of the day is selected randomly by the server. Not just any video can be video of the day though. First, the video has to have a user mark it as their favorite video. After that, at 12:00 AM Central standard time on each new day the server lists off all the users favorites and selects one of them at random and enters the selected video in the database as the new video of the day. So in short, the more users who have a specific video in their favorite selection, the more likely the video is to be selected as video of the day.

What are bookmarks?

Bookmarks are a user feature that allow you to add links to the bookmarks block.

Some people add links to videos or pages on own-age.com that they frequently visit, and others use the bookmarks for other sites to turn own-age.com kinda into a portal. The choice is yours, But links to offensive/adult material is not allowed.

What kind of videos does own-age.com provide profiles for?

All kinds of gaming related videos. Weither it be first person shooters like quake 3, overhead strategy videos like warcraft, or even console videos from nintendo, we are willing to provide profiles for all of them, as long as they fit our rules/guidelines.

How do I add a video to the site

Adding a video is simple and requires only 2 steps, and for some people its only 1 step...

First, while you are logged on, go to:
http://www.own-age.com/vids/add.aspx
Fill out the info and submit.
You must simply add the mirror info to the add video form and you don't need to do anything further.
Be careful, the download mirror you provide (own-age.com doesn't provide hosting) mustbe valid, because the movie profile is immediately visible to all the users.

Why are videos zipped?

Videos are zipped for 2 reasons:
  1. To include other files such as screenshots, readme's or codecs to play the video
  2. To prompt users to save as instead of automatically streaming the file in their media player.
