Only tested the SP when i visited a friend and jumped around one of the MP maps. Looks like it's gonna be awesome, as soon as OSP/RA/CPMA are available Q4 ;)

I had some problems. Not with engine it self but some techincal changes need to be added. Also there is no PIC_MIP... at least not the way it should be. Damn commands such as M_SMOOTH and M_STRAFESMOOTH iritate cuz they cant be set... Also you need to reExec config on each level loading. BOBROLL and RUNROLL cant be set on clients and thats lame since I get sick of all the waving. When you strafe you will be stuck if you ran onto stairs.
There are quite a number of so called bugs. I really dont know why the hell they let them stay, they already had expirience with the same problems back in Q3 and they fixed them 'till v1.32. Mod Q3MAX is not bad, but still need some elemental fixes, also you can NOT turn off damn smoke. Rockets are slower in Q3, so many of you will have problems to learn prediction (again) since (for eg) on dm 17 (name from q3) you fire rocket towards rail 1sec before someone even goes to jump pad. Player can easily take the rail and return before rocket event hits target.
Dont know for other players but I think Q4 needs more chewing :)

Good poll question.. I thought it was good as a game, but it multiplayer wise... it doesn't even compare with quake3. I haven't finished single player (mainly because I haven't played q4 in a while), but so far I've enjoyed it. Its not that quake4 is a bad game its just that quake3 is better. |

From a Single Player game POV, Quake 4 is good with spectacular graphics, good physics and a storyline similar to Rebel Commando. From a Multi-Player POV, Quake 4 lacks a hell of a lot. The ability to tune it to perfection, the speed, the frantic style of play. The major bandwidth requirements means that anybody without at least a 4Mbps connec won't be able to host a friendly server from their house to have a practice server whereas with Quake 3, I had no lag problems hosting a 16player server off of a 512Kbps line!
The bug fixes need to come rolling in and ID+Raven need to listen to the community to know what to fix first. Utmost priority is what the community wants for playability else everybody is going to drop Quake 4 and within a year, nobodies going to care about it anymore unlike Quake 3 that will still be played till 2010.

yeah good poll i havent played it yet but i have the video from quakecon , fatal1ty playing a q4 lan, and it looks nice, a bit to dark for my taste. hope the mp gets a fixing soon for all u ra osp promode sluts, the excessive mod for q4 is very simillar to the q3 1.30 one so iv been told. dont worry people the fixing will be comeing soon if the mp is that bad. |

I bought it but haven't actually played it so far, just a lil bit of the sp mod so i don't have an real objective opinion yet. Anyway that's some kind of funny to see that i'm not so motivated to play it, like i'm not "ready" for a new quake or something :/ My comp isn't the problem (although i had a few problems with my drivers) and i could play it quite comfortably but i don't know, looks like i don't want to.

Finished it in SP at Lieutenant difficulty (for those of you that don't have it that's like "hardcore" in q3) and it took me nearly two weeks. Not because it's overly difficult (there'll be a mission pack for that no doubt!) but just didn't seem to have the get up & go to play it much. It was interesting that (as far as I remember) this is the first ID shooter where you get to see your feet, and your legs get cut off within a few minutes of seeing them ;)
Although I bought my 6800GT in preparation for Doom III & q4 I still find myself firing up q3 for multiplayer - loads sooooo much quicker and feels better. Agreed, promode will hopefully bring q4 up a few notches. |

r_picmip is not in q4 but there is a similar command, pm myself or Oblivion if you want a cfg that will make q4 looks like picmip 4 or so in q3.
I've already got a few mids on people going to rail, don't see what you're talking about. Rockets travel at exactly the same UPS (units per second) / speed as Q3 except instead of coming out 2 metres in front of the player like in Q3, the rockets come straight out the barrel of the gun. Hence the rockets take longer to get to their destination, but they don't travel any slower.

I use my mouse drivers to set my sensitivity and acceleration. With the Razer drivers I can even have different acceleration for each axis. So the q4 sens doesn't bother me but if it annoys enough people, you're bound to see it fixed when Q4 is modded.
The game hasn't been out for long enough to say that it's going to be shit. I can't wait til Raven realise that they should take the cheat protection off r_singlelight because it helps people get better frames. Like here where someone is getting 60fps on a TI4200 (I would only have to work a few hours to be able to afford one, they're about as expensive as a nice shirt.)

The difference between baseq3 in 1999 and Q3 fully modded up in 2002-2005 is HUGE. Everyone has learned more from Q3 so the difference for Q4 is going to be even bigger... why put a game down when it's the only game with the potential to replace Q3? It's the only suitable 1v1 game for professional play atm besides Painkiller (which has been replaced by Q4 in CPL and ESWC).

| I played Quake 2 for a long time, but when UT came out, i picked it over Quake 3. I'm playing both UT99 and UT2k4 at the moment, not sure i can pull away from them long enough to play Quake 4. |

Gameplay:
What I've noticed is that q4 is damn noisy in multiplayer. Also I find it very hard to see other players let alone tell the difference between a team red and team blue.
Visuals:
Graphics are very nice.. I'm interested to see how the game will look on my new widescreen monitor!
haven't gotten that far on single player.. but liking it so far. (haven't played it that much)
