personally, ive never found guest comments at all interesting or constructive, and as for guest voting, heh, i think its safe to say that nobody cares how guests vote because it dosnt matter the least. also, how hard is it to sign up? really. sure if they come here just to download movies then thats ok i guess but if they want to use the forums/vote they should have to sign up instead of posting as an anonymous guest.

Remove the comment and votes imo.
Votes:
- Movies get all these 10/10/10/10 votes because movie makers vote on their own movie or they get some friend to do some quick voting.
Comments:
- People (a lot of time the maker of the movie which is beeing judged) abuse it so they make like 10 guest votes with different names saying how good a movie is.
- You also see a lot of quick friends comments on how good a movie is. Imo this site is about constructive critisism, so you don't want 100 support comments from people who will never visit the site again.
- It's often beeing abused for spam comments.
So imo remove guest comments. It would be ideal if you could see the ip's of ppl who post or vote so that you can see if ppl used different accounts of guest posts.

but seriously, usually guest comments are just abused by people who are friends of the movie maker or people who wanna spam/flame anonymous. remove m

ive never found guest comments very useful. they're usually 100% positive or 100% negative...not really adding anything of substance. also: sick of those people that want to use the guest function to flame a member because they don't want the person to know who said it...weak.

it's all good, as long as someone fixes the login stuff... sometimes i get the server error page, and other times i get logged out five minutes after logging in :( |

Take a look at the general eSport sites. In 9/10 cases you're not allowed to download or post comments unless you're a registered member. That's for one reason, prevention. You mess with your account, you'll get banned. own-age.com shouldn't be an exception.

But don't remove the current ones, because in some threads they are important.
And i don't think download should be limited to registred users, for 2 reasons:
-own-age.com doesn't host movies anymore, so Idon't think it would be fair to limit it
-it isn't an annoyance at all and it can bring more people to use own-age.com.

Of course Bacchus, downloads should be available to _all_ users here on own-age.com like most of the mirrors are available for free on the net.
I could have left the "download" example outside, i was just pointing out the importance of an account in general. :)

| While I agree that guest comments are alot of times unconstructive and may cause integrity issues with the voting system, guest voting may help videos of less-popular games get true ratings (because most users here don't play them and therefore can't give a true rating no the content of those videos). I suggest hiding guest ratings but add in a "Show guest ratings" button under the user ratings. |

I second the hide/display ratings concept newtype9 was talking about.
Although the majority of guest votes are all 1's or all 10's, some
people actually happen to vote realistic (both on well-known and
less-known games based movies) so I'm not sure if completely getting
rid of them is a good idea. Having the choice to hide or display their
votes sounds like a nice alternative to me, just make em hidden by
default though.

How ironic: own-age posted as guest, lol.
I votet not for permanently delete them.
On the one hand - only-1 and only-10 votes - you are right.
But on the other hand: ppl often are logged out by the server or simply can't log in before they comment a vid. That's why comments of guests - in this case comments of users who aren't logged in - should not be deleted.
But if: 1st) votes & comments of guests made in the past will not be deleted (because some are still good ones, written above somewhere, i think)
2nd) login system will be improved (as wirtten above, too)
3rd) guest votes won't be deactivated and for the site visitor visible if he wants (written above, as well)
So if all the suggestions will be realised, take my vote as a "yes" instead of a "no". ;) |

after reading the comments on this poll, i didn't know if i voted right ot not (i voted yes).
now i think that guest comments sould be kept, and users sould decide wheater take them seariously or not. i'm a new user (used this site a lot, but registered not so long ago just to add my video, but then i started commenting and voting and stuff). when i read comments, i watch if the user is new, if guest (same with voting). if guests wont be allowed to vote or comment, after few months there will be shitloads of single-use accounts that someone used just to vote for himself or just to add really great comment. if someone comments me (pisses me of) if it's guest, than i don't care.....if it's a user, then i check his usage stats too see if this is the guy who gets involved in the community, or his just here for 2 days, and knows shit.
to sum up, the whole system of voting/commenting is in my opinion ok.
sould have votet no i guess :)

just one more thing.
more important stuff like review (witch for example new users can't do - i tried) isn't available for guests. so i think that polls souldn't be alowed to guests, cause this site sould be for users not guests - if you want to have something to say on this site - sign up!

LOL! so far no guest post on this poll, no argument as their comment for the movie.
As the most say they dont give really constructive comments so....
but i vote "no" because I think the most of the guest are normal surfer who download videos and make this site active. Remove their votes and comments will not immediately force them to register as a new user but maybe make them leave....
Its good as a guest to see how the site work befor registering ;)
PS: i used to be a Guest for a long time befor registeting LOL
