i very much enjoyed this. great editing / synching, cool shots, and amusing. good job on being individualistic and therin innovative. (even tho i FUCKEN HATE LATER AGE METALLICA).

Good job Lotus. I think you can be pretty proud of yourself. Making your first vid with the tools you had wasn't an easy task. You had to be creative enough to satisfy the viewers without any eye candy à la after fx and you managed to do it. Also in such short time. You included some humor with that intermission part which is quite original. The part where you showcased all available guns in the game I liked also.
Also i see a big image quality improvement compared to some stuff you showed me before. That's very nice.
Now for your next vid (i hope there will be one) learn some good eye-candy editing program and show us what a "fish and chips guy" can deliver with the right tools. I bet you wouldn't let us down cause you got the creativity 8)

| Good video overall. The intro was good and I liked the part where you showed each weapon, nice synching with the music. A lot of nice shots in the video, but also quite a few shots that were nothing special (I know from experience that the hit detection in this game makes it difficult to get a lot of really nice-looking frags, but I think maybe you should have made the video a bit shorter). The intermission thing has been done before in the Q3 movie "Redemption" (not that you should be expected to know that) and there it was actually quite creative and humorous, but in this movie I found it kind of tedious and annoying. I never could really get back into the movie after that because I didn't like the Metallica song, although I guess that's a matter of personal taste. I also didn't really like how you repeatedly showed a series of freeze-frames. I'm probably sounding too negative here. You did a good job for the most part. |

The thing that kept this movie from being "good" or even "great" was the obnoxiously long intro/intermission (which is retarded imo)/outtro. I think they were 6 minutes combined, for a 9 minute movie - that's a waste of time/bandwith/space, unless you actually make them interesting (but honestly I was falling asleep).
Anyway, the "bulk" of the movie was great, good music syncing with frags, but it doesn't really change the fact that this movie should've been a 4 minute movie, not a 9 minute one.

Before you say anything don't even try to say i expect everyone to say they love it because I don;t, I'm the first one to admit I don't even know how half the stuff to making the amazing vids, but that down right noob attitude I aint standing for.

I just wanted to make a vid cause I've loved the JK games and if I knew how to do half of the cool stuff people like Sean do I would've done it ofcourse, for not knowing anything about making vids until 3 months ago what I came up with aint too bad. If I'd known what a harsh lot of bums you are I wouldn't have hosted it on this site at all.
I did this vid for me and the people who like the JK, the people who respect it for what it is which is just a tribute to a game I love and yo the still images were used for a reason, to show the maps of jk and to go in time with the music at certain points.
I think you guys with such a big thorn up your back side need to reavaluate your ways of thinking, and realise why people even make vids. I worry for you:s
To the admins: you want to ban me for what I said or take it off the site cause you think it's so terrible go for it but I think you need to reevaluate the type of people you got visiting your site, most messed up attitudes I've seen in a long long time, and I live in a shit neighbourhood:s

By that I meant I accept that type of criticism.
Listen, I know the quality aint the best, that the things i did in the vid aren't leet in terms of editing and I certainly aint the best player in JK. My point is someone should be able to post a one off vid like this just cause they wanted to try their hand at vid making, thought it would be a laugh, without being verbally blasted. I know where the vid isn't good compared to others on here, if I KNEW how to do all the stuff I wanted would've been amazing but I did the best I could with what I had and what I had learned in that short amount of time.
I'm sorry but the way some of it was done was insulting, that can't be argued at all.
I am referring here to darks post, twin cannons and only a few parts of your comment Jeff, I agreed with you for the most part.

Er don't take such offense man. Everyone's first vid usually isn't the hottest, and if you're new the the community than you'll have to expect this since everyone who's commented has probably seen 150+ gaming movies (250+ for me or so)... just telling you what's good what's bad for a better sequel.

yea man it's cool, I realise and respect that. When you've seen and made so many of these movies I know a little vid like mine would pale in comparison. Anyhoo, tried me best and enjoyed making it, I'm just happy I got to make a vid about a game series I really enjoy.
Lets just forget the whole thing. Apart from what some people have said regarding my vid I am really liking ownage.com, great site and the vid making community still seems very cool.
Just take it a little easier on us nooby vid makers in the future;) After all, I'd only seen 3 game vids before I made my one so to me all the stuff I did was original and quite a few people seem to like it. |

ok tbh im a little confused.. everyone is ranting on and on about how good this video is.. i see some 'decent' ideas here i guess, but ppl are going nuts. yah, i understand its a first video, but lots of first videos are really actually pretty nice [obsession, unownable, zale's dealy], its not as amazing as you guys are making it seem. not by a mile. gl on future videos but someone please explain to me why this is such a gem to so many?

Well the bulk of it is really nice footage compared to most other JK movies I've seen. It's just the extra stuff that really made it boring to me, if it was shorter and more to the point I would've enjoyed it a lot more.

For a first vid this is preaty deasent (<-- dont know how to spell and that goes for alot of other words to) i remember my first vid, i think like max 100 ppl have downloaded it, and thats raely a big disapointment, because when you have workd on a thing four maybe several months and just a feew ppl watch it, and on top of all the feew ppl watchd it just trow shit in your face after watcing it isent easy...
but hey. I dident like your vid at all! but for a first vid, its preaty nice dude.
I'm big big fan of the game myself the ony problem is that I live in Norway and around norway there isent realy mutch of a jedi knight community, and that sucks because i wannt a clan and all just like everybody else.. but you selfish american prics always have to do things you way.
man this came out of hand but i'll post it anyway.

tja, i know looking back on it now it's not very stunning but think i did the best with what i had as in programs and limited knowledge on using them. Also agree JKA is a tough game to make a decent vid out of especially if you don't know how to use the proggies like photoshop, premiere, after fx etc
gonna try me hand at a q3 vid after the exams, get to know the programs first etc, see how it goes and hopefully show a big improvement, but all in all this vid aint too bad and I'm still proud of it so, if you aint seen it before, ch-check it out!:) |
