Nice work.
+ Nice titles/logos/etc. + Nice intro + Good frags...better than I've seen in many vids + Nice still cameras + NO STUPID SIMPLE ITEMS THX + Good use of music (synching)
- ...but at times the music felt like it was just loud noises instead of me being able to hear anything - On one snipe, you seemed to have cg_draw2D off...doesn't work for snipes. - No weapon mods (not even a sniper scope mod) - I wasn't quite sure what the intro was until after I'd seen it - I wasn't fragged in it ;)
+ Overall
5:17 in, the camera went "through the ground" to another elevation. Was this noclip? Or was it a fix in the demo part of JK3? (I haven't tested much in JK3, but in JK2)
Ooh, looking back, 2:59 in, I see fhqwhgads was sniped by //ludvain_
Don't think it was me though...even though I used that alias on the forums for a bit :S |

Above average JKA vid, quite fun to watch. Although, NO ONE can compete with mine, so I forgive you for not reaching my coveted standards ;)
- The frags were quite nice. Camera angles were great for some, but did not do justice to others.
- I actually prefer not using weapon mods (except for my elite rainbow explosions)... seems more down to earth, more relatable.
- The still cameras (via spectator, im sure) had subtle movement that may not have bothered people less OCD than I - but to me, they distracted me from the vid, and made it seem a bit ammature, which I know you are not. However, it is a nice, original touch to use them and I think you deserve recognicion for that
- Music was not in my taste, but shots were well synced - I dunno, some mood-shifting music along with shots and speed change could have gone a long way
- DARK! Gamma correction is your friend!
- Credits were a bit long for just side scrolling...
- As far as the title, "Lagged", I kinda would have liked to see that idea more developed throughout, and not just in one set of frames
- THANK YOU FOR NOT OVERUSING CTF4!!!
- The ending scene with the bow was a nice touch. Wrapped the vid up real smoothly (I was praying that those credits would not simply stop and be the ending - thanks for leaving on a more complete note)
- NICE COMPRESSION - what can one expect, Shao?

Spectator mode does the stills! There is no defrag mod for JKA!
cg_draw2d 0, and the word "spectator" will magically disappear! Amazing!

I got it to work, and personally I don't think its any better, but whatever I won't argue.
Your video is okay, nothing we havn't seen before in other videos. Again I would discourage people from using 3rd person view in movies but I guess thats a personally fetish.
There was some nice frags, not many, but I guess you can appreciate them a lot more when you realize the amount of lag you had in doing them.
Pretty average video overall. |

Nice vid dude, glad to see you got it finished. Kinda thought Jabbas would be the last jk3 vid so this was a good surprise:)
Frags were leet, editing better than most vids posted here excluding the occasional ones that really blow the socks off everything else. All in all a great effort and definately something to be proud of, gj man:)
P.S will pass the word around with others that this is out, not sure many from the old community realise it's out. |

i always looked forward to your vid and now i found your vid accidentally ^^ now what i think about your vid
i like:
• the music • some of the editings arenice • ctf / ffa • runs / frags • intro is really nice (but dont know, if you are mirage ;P ) • some really nice cam views • thats a jk3 vid :>
i dont like:
• for this size the quality is not good enough • you used to a little bit much this shining transition • too long credits - readme with all the names would be better

after i saw the teaser and trailer i thought 'if the final vid is like the trailer and the teaser...omg -_-' i dont like them, sorry :x but now i saw the final vid and you surprised me. its really cool! you can be proud about it :> all in all: good job dude - lagged is one of the best jk3 weapon vids (but you not owned avalon with that :P)

I enjoyed the video, but I also would have liked to see the "LAGGED" aspect developed a bit more (if I hadn't have gone away for three weeks, I'm sure mudvain would have had time to listen to a few more of my ideas and throw them in [:).
Considering mudvain plays with a constant ~3 second delay, the shots are excellent. I would have liked to see you implement the last part to the intro (which I'm sure you'll remember to credit me for after this praise post) which was the music abruptly faultering when you lagged just before capturing the flag, kind of like that sound you hear in movies or whatnot when everyone's having a party or something, and some DJ's mixing the music and shit, and then somebody fires a few rounds with a gun, and you know... it all kind of stops and makes that classic sound like "oh shit" style. That would have been good stuff.
As well, you could have added some kind of... I dunno, identification type special effect or something before your first frag. Like a little blinking dot or something overlayed ontop of a freeze-frame of your player model, comes up with alias, gametype.. level maybe, I dunno, and last and most importantly, slams your latency right there so everybody knows that you're a constantly lagging gook. That would have driven the point of the video nicely. Something like that, anyways...
OK, back to a short review: the quality and compression were excellent, first rate, I think. Synched shots to a soundtrack that fits the video type nicely (it's not my favourite kind of music, personally, but it works I guess). Great shots.
And the best part, I thought, was that magnificent intro. Who thought up and directed that intro again, mudvain? ;)
Good job, good vid. |
