Video of the Day 0 Times
Featuring:
NA QWCTF Team
Description:
Intro by zfz.frost:
"Recently I downloaded a bunch of demos of some of my former qwctf friends and competitors. I found out they are still playing in international matches no less; as team north america. I was pleasantly surprised when i saw the game I once played played with such mastery and finesse. I knew then I needed to make a movie, not to show off some technical movie making skills (which i have none of), but to show off a game.
While developers are releaseing more and more slow/dull counters-strike clones, It maybe nice for people to see what games "hooked" the previous generation of gamers (yeah even previous to quake2/3). When you see the videos, and imagine that this was what gameplay was like on pentium-166's with 56k modems and no opengl. You may start to understand how and why a game like quakeworld ctf was so addictive to play on the net."

Heh, it's really easy to d/l and play, skelman made a nice site/instructions base.
Anyway, um, I dunno what the deal is really. I used to play nightly games with these guys and I can say, with pretty good confidence, that at least every game we had had a scene that was better than those features in the movie. I mean, skelman and master were pulling off rediculous shit every 5 minutes, and weren't even featured? One thing I notice is a lot of it is from the nations cup which means half the time they were probably playing with terrible pings - but still, no excuse to not use content from the nightly home server games...
I dunno, coming from the community it just seemed terribly boring, and having nothing to show what the game is about I'm sure it's very confusing to people who don't really know "how to play" qwctf (how a quad can be more important than a flag, rune control and manipulation, etc). i.e., it would've been much more satisfying to the masses if it featured some insane quad runs (and, trust me, it doesn't GET any more insane than qwctf quad runs, gibs flying around so quick the engine has trouble keeping up), juggles and the like. The subtle strategy and long scenes in the clips featured were just too bleh, even for me who knows how the game ticks.
