"Not the best playtime/size ratio..." No, it's the worst i have ever seen. Not d/ling it. Compression is saying something about what to expect from the movie, so not downloading this one.

overview of my movies, useful links, best quality settings for SoF2, handling (sof2) sounds before and in premiere
all on one site: www.sof2chicane.tk (the site is ugly but the info is gold)

I enjoyed this film.
I thought the introduction had some very, very good third-person camera shots that helped set the tone of the movie. First, the evolution on the Dust 2 map from version 1.6 to Source was very well done and was synched nicely to give the impression of change. Then there were shots of bombs exploding, people dying, and gun-fights, presumably to introduce us to what Source is like. I especially liked the last bomb explosion in the introduction in Prodigy because of the swinging overhead light that followed it - I thought it was a very nice effect. My only complaint is the lack of any direction or progression in the intro because it seemed to be just random clips from different maps showing what Source was like (and perhaps one too many de_port shots).
I felt that the actual action in the film was intense, exciting, and entertaining. There were some awesome frags that really made the movie shine. Some of my favorites included the double no-scope AWP headshots on Aztec, the multiple desert eagle headshots on Train, some of the insane USP work in Dust2, the super-fast AWP on Dust2 B bombsite, and of course the knife on Kodiak at the very end. I felt that there were only a few filler frags and the rest were very skilled and entertaining. Although there was no in-game sound, I felt it didn't really take away too much from the movie.
As far as editing is concerned; there wasn't too much, other than the occassional slow-motion and/or replay in the body of the movie. Which wasn't necessarily bad, just that at times it seemed a little too fast paced and could have used some transitions. I also felt that there could have been some zoom-in work (at the very least) or some overlays to highlight certain things (such as locations of enemies, such as at 5:05).
I think that without question, the best part of the film was its quality. Absolutely outstanding, and it should have been with its 800x600 resolution and 60+ MB/min. Plus, it seemed that the graphics detail was turned all the way up which was definitely nice to see (such as the shine on the CT's visors). I felt that movie did justice to Source's graphics and made the film very easy to watch.
Overall I felt that this film was certainly one of the best Source films that is on this site. The quality, frags, and no-nonsense action gave the film a fast paced and exciting feel that was very immersive. I wish there was a little more creativity in some of the frag presentations and not just one frag followed by the next one. In that sense, this film is no different than any other CS movie, just frag highlights with some focus placed on the graphics of Source and the evolution from 1.6 to it. So with a very unfortunate lack of creativity, and the combination of an extraordinarily large file size, I must say that I can't rate this film higher than a 7/10, despite its awesome frags and super clear picture. Good work Kodiak!

Despite the INSANE size this movie is really good. The Quality, frags and intro are awesome this is definatly one of the best source movies out there.

Size was a bit big but I dont mind... I rather download this 500 mb movie that I enjoy watching then 5x 1xxMB movies who make me feel like I wasted 5 important minutes of my live as I could've been staring out my window to.... Editing was really really nice, frags were real nice to imo but I got to agree that some enemys were (or acted) really low skilled. Great movie you can see you've put a lot of work in this movie and was worth it... Keep it up. |
