Description:
Flash - Kings of the Impossible is a fast paced Unreal Tournament 2004 frag movie that begins and ends with a bang without relying on flashy effects. It features frags from zyth, MxX and UZi from the clan Deus Ex Machina against top North American players. All the frags used were taken in competitive settings and mainly come from official matches or scrims in preparation of the UT2k4 4v4 TDM Americup hosted by GGL, in which Deus EX Machina finished fourth.

This movie uses the new x264 codec which now surpasses XviD for high quality encoding. For playback, either install the files located in the Playback folder or download the latest ones from the official x264 website (http://www.x264.nl/). Run the installers for the filter, but make sure you do the following:
FFDShow:
When at the Video Decoder section, be sure to check the box for H.264, X264.
When at the Audio Decoder section, be sure to check the box for AAC.
Matroska Splitter:
When at the Options section, be sure to check Enable MP4 support.
Play the file in your favorite DirectShow compatible player like Windows Media Player.

it doesn't matter if he votes for his own movie, cause the vote will be removed automatically!

the only thing that impressed me in this movie was the quality, so nice. And some of the frags, but i think that the editing could be better. Sometimes or, always the music stopped kind of abrubtley :S (spelling) and it killed some of the pace in the movie. The music, well kinda old songs imo. U cant touch this, well... first i thought that this was a serious movie and when that song started I thought differently. To bad to all the nice frags that there wasnt any good editing, could have been a really good movie. Sry that im a bitch about this kinda stuff but I think thats important. As I said, nice work on the videoquality!

jesus like he gave you instructions right there, and it is a lower filesize than xvid, try getting the quality for that lenght of time with xvid and it'll be a good bit larger, downloading now..

well movie is around a 6. but what is this freakin codec??ß i had a really laggie playback and I couldn't really enjoy the vid because of that. why haven't you used the nero vision codec? it offers the same quality and I don't have to install so many shit on my drive....

@Axxon: Wow, it's been a long time :) Don't hesitate to come to our irc chan for a little chat.

@Envy-: Usually good XviD compression will give you a file size of approximately 20mB/min for 640x480 footage. My movie contains 4:3 more pixels than that with 26mB/min. (20mB/min * 4/3 = 26,66mB/min) However, the quality is much better than what you would get with 20mB/sec with XviD (edges are sharper and textures more detailed). I only captured with 4xS anti-aliasing and 8x anisotropic filtering at 800x600, because of the limitations of my video card and hard drive space. Furthermore, I only used the batch file provided on the wikipedia page posted in the own-age forums (also in my readme) to encode my movie, which makes you wonder what quality you could get with extensive tweaking!

@Fightmare: I used x264, because it is free and most importanly open source! I also heard a lot of positive feedback about it in this thread: http://own-age.com/forum/thread.aspx?id=37411&page=1

If the video lags or is choppy, I suggest you do the following:
  • Play it in media player classic (run -> mplayer2).
  • Reboot and/or kill other processes running.
  • Disable 'postprocessing' by right-clicking on the ffdshow tray icon (shown when playing the movie)

The visuals are supposed to be extremely well synched to the music, if not you are getting video lag :/

The x264 codec is going to get more and more used for video compression and to become the new standard, so I suggest you try to fix your playback problems :/

Wow, I guess in this case, ignorance isn't bliss.

nero vision is proprietary, and it installs more than ffdshow and haali. i guess you're just angry because you have to run two simpler installers instead of one. x264 can also acheive higher quality than nero recode.

That's probably because the video is at 3500kbps bitrate. Since x264 does far better and more complex compression, it requires more than something like xvid to decode. You computer probably can't keep up with what's needed.
Also 3500kbps high profile h.264 is excessive for virtually everything but archive quality and HD video. There really should be no need to go anywhere near 20MB/min for game videos with h.264; and imo, there's also not much of a need for resolutions much higher than 640x480. The resolution of this video is even higher than a DVD.

well, the main thing cause I was pissed was that I had to install the drivers and stuff and then the vid runs like shit. I haven't had this probs with nero vision. ;)

maybe h.264 is for free but I still prefer nero vision.

does somebody know if a version of the vid with a different codec is also existing? cause I tried everything but I couldn't get the movie to run properly.

Both nero recode and x264 use h.264 compression. But, x264 is free, open source, more compact, supports h.264 high profile encoding and has way more options.

just for the sake of terminology, they're not drivers, they're directshow filters.

jeez louise what reactions in here.. is that difficult to install two things (one of which is a basic codec that everyone should have: ffdshow) ?

if you're patient.. and you wait long enough.. nothing will happen.

compression was nice, had no problems with it here, could have done with more antialiasing but as you said that was because of your gfx card, frags were pretty nice, though there was one shock combo on deck17 that really impressed me, the one where he shoots then goes through the teleport and then pulls off the combo, the editing wasn't brilliant but ok, the music choice wasn't very original and ends abruptly at times so 6.5/10 i reckon

The video was very boring. Quit it within 3 minutes. The frags, good or not, simply looked bad. I am left feeling unimpressed. The music is nothing great and there is no innovation. I don't know why this movie was released other than just to show off something the editor thought was good frags. But they didn't look so "good" to me. The quality wasn't fluent. It was poorly done-- even I have a top speedy computer qualified enough to run this. But my computer gets bored of the video plenty. Not great. I give it a low 4.

If you're even remotely interested in ut2k4, then I HIGHLY recommend this video.

Simply put, this is a must download. Editing, while not exactly mind-blowing, is pulled off in a fashion that will leave you happy (no MS paint transitions etc.). Music was decently thought out, and synced well with key moments in the action.

Frags were mostly impressive, with a few excellent shots/sprees thrown in for good measure. And it's always nice to see community players (even a few pros) get pwnt. :)

The quality is the obvious selling point of this video, utilizing the latest x264 codec (while somewhat of a pain, you should already have them, and Matroska by now) really enhances the image quality and gives the video a nice, crisp feeling.

2k4 videos don't have a lot of competition, and on that note I'll claim that this is one of the best 2k4 videos available.

You should most def. Download this ->

downloaded and watched because i wanted to finally see some video with this new compression h.264.

have to say the quality of the compression is very clear, very sharp, and didn't lose details in the textures

overall i'm not 100% sold yet on the compression standard but i'm impressed so far looking forward to see another vid done like this

After getting going through the rather labourious task of installing the codecs i really enjoyed this frag movie. I thought the frags and music were good. Picture quality was good (i didnt experience any choppyness). I think this one will be on my hard drive for a while.

+ nice Frags
+ good Quality

- editing
- songs ends suddenly

Good Video, but could need more editing, and fading between the Songs. Nice to see that codecs were included in zip file.
