you might be the first one (except me) to watch it, so i could use a comment.
Please dont expect TO much, its just a preview i wanted comments on before really editing the movie to make the best out of it ;)

I wonder why this site advises to use filefront if you have to wait THAT long, kinda stupid :/

if it's only the download link, why don't you just add the working mirror to the other movie instead of posting it twice? :S

We don't really advise to use, we recommend it to people who can't find an other free host by themselves.
Usually waiting timeis not that huge, I often have downloads with no waiting time, or less than a minute. It is just hat when you have just uploaded the file, you have to wait for them to mirror it on their different servers... It takes times and during that time the file is not that easy to download.

Alcohol is the answer, but I can't remember the question!

well, so..
my pov:
ur cfg is not okay put some more fov and i m sure u can put some more high details and resoltion
Quality is quiet bad, are u sure u made ur screen with the highest resolution u could ? and then resized them ? (check own-age forum u ll find all u need to have a better final quality, check tania 's faq "how to make a top movie" etc)
then i m not speaking about contents quality, but u have to cut them, show us only good shots not all the round cause it s getting boring honestly. Try to make some edits too not just frags on musique.
then i feel like musique is too speed compare to content 's speed and try to synch some.
Use defrag mode to make recams.
Then i have seen some effects but that is poor honeslty, don t make a vid full of effects but try to be original and effects have to be ok with musique and contents.
well in fact u got some things to learn before start full vid, don t rush it.
basicly thats all i have to say, and u are at the right place to find all u need to learn stuffs to get a better final project, good luck :)

below average vid, really long frag scenes with no impressive frags. file size/time ratio was good but the file itself looked terrible. music was ok. the thing i liked was the effect where the bodies switched flashed different colors after they had been killed.

definitely take nhsb's advice when working on your final vid

what do you mean with more fov?
cg_fov higher or lower?
or did you mean more hud displays?
like energy and so on?
i used cg_draw2d 0
because i dont like this full hud if its unnecessary.
is there a special display that is missing?
i wont put the energy in, unless its important for the screne (like 1 hp when taking down those 4-5 guys)

higher resolution:
with the game config i used r_mode 4, which i set to 5 now. my engine (pIII, 1000 mhz, voodoo3) isnt the best and cant do more ^^
if you mean with any program while editing: ok i didnt really inform myself about codecs and settings, because i only wanted to have an overview of my project ;)

the scenes: hmmm depends on what you mean by cut. I thought the scenes are special because they show one player taking down the complete enemy team, which is not easy in Rocket Arena. I see your point if you say its somewhat boring, i will use fast forward when there is no action to be seen, but really leaving it out could be understood like a NEW scene, which would make the frags even less impressive -.-

music: there will be more tracks of course in the final movie, going with the growing length.
this one was the only i grabbed as a wav file (my other music was mp3 which the used program didnt handle), ill continue grabbing someday and use more classic rock (ac/dc, black sabbath, van halen, deep purple etc... not only but mostly)

effects:
i dont wanna put in to many, because some really destroy the frags... like a wide glowing rocket, that looks nice but hides all that happens behind it... how it hits the enemy!
i want most of the importance to be on the frags (even if you dont like them ;) ) and use mostly ingame effects due to the q3 config (like the "bodies switched flashed different colors", railcolor switches [rainbowrail], slowmotion, fastforward, thirdperson and stuff like that) and the standart transition (black fade out, fade in, to point out a new scene starting)

as a final comment from my side:
its the first movie i TRY to make nice to watch. before i didnt even collect comments or ask for progs (just took demos, screenshoted them, converted the shots to an avi and put music in)

yes i mean an higher fov. For resolution btw put the max u can ;)
hmm not easy in RA3, got lot of shots when kill all the enmy team followed with no w8 or anything but cut or pass quickly the moment when nothing happened.
By some edit i meant synch hits with the beat of musique =)
Let cg_draw2d 0 ( and extract the frag msg with photoshop ) and yes when it s usefull like 1hp would be good to let us see it ;)
And by " i feel like the musique is too speed for contents" if u synch a bit this feeling won t be anymore, this musique could fit well ;)
For frags didn t say i don t like them just with this kind of 3rd person view ( like ra3map9 ) (u should use defrag mode for better 3rd person view btw) i just didn t really saw the impressive of frags and if u ll put in-game sound will be easier to anderstand frags :P
And sry if i was a bit harsh ( not that i would ) but for you to make a better final vid, i tell you all i ve seen and could be made better way ;)
Anyway , any questions or help needed, i would be glad to help you and i think ppl in here in general too ;)
( sry for english faults i don t have much time right now ;p )

Yeah i have seen many many quake and rocket arena movies, too and of course those of people that often publish movies are way better in quality and editing but i have seen many many worse scenes ;)

ok the single frags are not that impressive (air rockets and that usual stuff might be added, though im a bit tired of them), but the first szene for example:

when hiding behind the corner and strafing out, its an impressive shot (nothing really nice, but there will be 3 more frags in one round... so as much as you can take, and at least it gets you a reward) combining excellent. the distance is ok for that aiming.
the enemy that jumps up the jump pad is hit (if you stop right you will see the enemy was out of view on top, but is caught in really fast)! look at the sensitivity, my mate spinned the mouse like crazy o_O
this again is one point with the fourth frag (straight after the third, excellent), where the enemy is on the right out of the view, the fragger reacts fast, turns and hits (to stress how my mate might have felt [i know im poetic :D] i made the colors switch so the enemy catches your attention a little more). then jumping again and railing the next enemy, another impressive + excellent.

-5-6 railhits in one round (ok even i do that often)
-5 enemys killed (a little less often, average is every second war)
-nice reflexes ( i dont have o_O)
-fast mouse movement (sometimes i play high sense, but then hit nothing haha)
-2 impressives and 3 excellents - 5 rewards (one round? only if im really lucky!)

single aspects arent that impressive, but okay i think, and added they ARE nice (at least they impress me)

yep, will fastforward in those situations.

ok i didnt use defrag but liked the third person view though. its good for rocketlauncher action (in case you havent seen the first frag near the jumppad was an airrocket. VERY close range of course, and really easy, but again you have to add the actions through the whole scene).
Of course a little much because 2 of 3 scenes use it, but that will get less with more scenes (generally its more rail action, were i rarely would dare to use 3rd person).
these just could use 3rd person in my opinion :)

synch of music and scenes: i have to admit, thats way to hard for me by now :/

ok the music might even fit if a pro takes care of the editing, but i dont even like it haha ^^

ingame sound - will be added definitely! do you still want the fragmessage? im just not sure but maybe ill add (think its not that necessary if the sound is in there, think it over).
oh and btw i realized that its hard to tell if the very last rail of the preview hits... yes it does ;)

nah i dont feel offended or anything, i know you just want to help.
most points we agree (didnt say the movie is perfect already -.- ) , and a very few we just dont (dont have to, not all movies must be the same. editing there shouldnt be any disagree, aim is: best quality, smallest size, nice effects... but scenes are individual).

Hi Guyz, I just upped the second (beta) version of our clanmovie!

It may have improved a little (i hope so) by adding 2 more scenes (now 5 scenes composed of 21 frags), a short intro (announcement in german, sry for that but the movie is for our pleasure, not of international interest - the announcement simply means "not suited for people aged below 18")
and the ingame sound. Changed the soundtrack btw.

I also redused the filesize to 23 mb although the movies duration is 3:35 now!
Of course quality is bad (divX 6.0 used) ;)

I Think the 3rd version will be ready next weekend (or lets say i hope so) including:

- remove of the chat beep
- more scenes, especially single kills (airrockets, airgrens etc.) which some people like to see more
- timescale use (slowmotion, fastforward, default speed)
- transitions (moviexone had a problem with divx 6.0 so it didnt want me to add transitions)

Other improvements during even later steps:
adding pov info (whos playing) on the upper right of screen
adding frag-counter bottom left of screen
adding second and third track/song with growing length AND
added credits
cfg changes
improvement in quality/size/length
ra3cfg (for movie) changes

I am uploading more than just the finished movie to get feedback, so dont be shy! ;)
People who think there time is worth to much for this crap: just dl the final movie or dont, I dont really care :P

I wonder if people get to know another version is up without creating a new profile which is listed as "new movie"? Didnt want to annoy anybody so i just added another mirror instead of a new profile (it is still the same movie, aint it?)

dude, u shouldnt update ur vid like this. now that u know ppls opinions, you should work on your vid till your done, then let other people see it. if you want to get comments on ur updates go to #own-age or #twilight.pictures (on enter the game) and ask someone to beta-test ur vid.

comments: you should still work on improving quality. the in game sound was nice. about the frags, although it was nice that the whole team was beaten, there were so many misses and the runs were so long it kinda overode the fact that you killed the whole team.

you should also put the name of the person fragging in the corner.

hmm why not up every stage on filefront, doesnt cost anybody here money, does it? o_O

Edit on Feb the 3rd: new versions (PHI for example as the newest today) show completely different fragpicks than the old versions... I love em a lot and you might at least give them another chance :p

of course there is still a lot to do. And it WILL be done :o
