Nice movie, especially since it's on the ONS theme. I'll be using this as a reference for the Smiley ONS movie I'll be doing next year.
Now, it's been a while since I played ONS but here's the + and - :
+ Quality. Colours and contrast are good. The in-game settings have also been changed for a good quality image.
+ Movie plays fluid and no stutter effect which can pop up during dumpframes.
+ ONS content. Most UT2004 movie until now have been about TDM or CTF.
+ Frags are good and show both solo and team action.
+ Nice black border format showing the name of the main actor in a scene.
- For the unitiated, it would be hard to tell when someone is in a vehicle. Weaponshow off is advised in first person view in UT/UT2004 movies but it would have been nice to have a clue about what vehicle was used to carry out some frags.
- Although it's obvious who is kicking ass, the action is sometimes confused. Perhaps a swift switch between first person view and third person could be used.
- Compression ratio is a bit low for the divx version (about 30+ MB per minute) but it's forgiveable seeing that the size of the movie is well in the norm.

My deepest apologies to anyone who downloaded the movie in vain from the second link, there were some problems with the uploading. Link should be back up soon, hopefully with a working version this time. Will also be adding another link really soon, this time I will check that the file will actually work :/
Azura, I could never really come up with a good solution when it comes to showing what vehicles are being used. Ended up adding those small icons in the upper right corner, altho they don't really help if you don't know what the vehicles look like or what they do, but I guess it's better than nothing. Thanks for taking the time to watch it and actually review the movie :) |

Is there actually a problem with vehicles showing in demos (caused by AntiTCC or other) ? I know UTPure is a right pain when it comes to weaponshow on the original UT. If you're contemplating making a second movie, I suggest you take a look at Rypelcam. With it, you can do some nice effects like follow a vehicle up to the point where you're touching it and then instantly switch to first person view (or vice versa).
P.S: The name Meep sounds sightly familiar. Did you ever play the original UT ?

Yes, I used rypelcam but didn't come up with anything working considering transitions from 3rd to 1st person, probably my limited skills that stood in the way really :D Rypelcam is known as swiftCPU nowadays afaik and that's what I put in the credits.
PS. I have never played UT online, so it wouldn't be me anyway :) |

Yeah, I did notice some smooth transitions here and there. To get that switch effect, you can use a bind at the right moment although there might be an option that does this somewhere. I'm no expert myself :P . As for Rypelcam vs SwiftCPU, I think Rypel changed the name because he probably found it boring or something. However, I caught this reply on the forums :o :
