What can I say I have just watched Chicanes latest movie "Fragrain" and I gotta say it is..... Awesome!!! I have watched all of Chicanes movies to date and I have been very impressed with them all. Each of Chicanes movies have had different little additions and this one is no exception with the flickering of the picture which gave me the impression of the images dancing to the fast beat of the music which in turn made the characters also appear to be gyrating to the beat.I also liked the small screen which had the current players view on display and the names of those who had been fragged as that has not been the case in previous movies where the players were anonymous, this gave a good account of what was happening throughout the movie and also showed the progression through the final maps of the competition that I wasn't lucky enough to watch as it happened. All the other effects in the movie were as in the past flawlessly edited and the action from one player to the next was seamless, the shots following the frag grenades as they fly through the air were spectacular and the choice of music was great, fast paced to match the action which was non stop. Well done to Chicane on a truly great job on creating this movie, keep it up Chicane.....

| What a terrific movie. Chicane has done it again and produced another slick and pacey movie, flawlessly edited and brimming with action. Watch the best frags from this years final featuring maps, Jordan, Shop 2 and CSS Italy. Thanks Chicane for putting in the hours and hours of work on this one, it was definatley worth it - a classic SOF2 frag movie..... Go download it NOW. |

Good movie again Chicane! Let me copy the comment from my website:
"Because of the nature of this movie (Deathmatch finals) and a complete overview of all played matches, it's impossible not to get bored after like 8 to 10 minutes. Thats the only thing I can think of in a negative way. Covering such a big event from every possible angle is a hell of a job and in my option Chicane did a great job. It's not hard at all to follow the storyline and the outcome of the final is nicely captured and displayed. I'd say: Good job Chicane!"
Liked it alot! thanks!

Generally a very enjoyable video so don't take my critizism too hard ! ;-)
From the top...
- : The change in music at 00:15 should have been softer/longer IMO.
+ : Great! how the limited cameraflight capabilities of ReFrag is made usefull by syncing it to music from 00:22 to 1:08 !
- : Some of the infoboxes at the top telling about results so far should have been intermission screens IMO - maybe with slowmotion fragging in the background. As it is now I had to replay those parts to both get the info AND watch the fragging.
Somehow I don't think the choice of using MS Comic Sans MS as the font for the credits was the right choise, but that's personal opinion.
I feel that the movie should have been sqeezed down to 10 minutes as Widow also said. Sure you would have to cut a lot of frags but you would still have been able to keep excitement and intensity of the competition. Some of us only have that 10-minute-attention-span ;-)
Amazing how CaPPuCCi's nades always land on someones head. And since everybody seems to go for AK74/M590/nade it's refreshing to see Arska's very steady aimed pistol-frag at 3:59 :-)
About the nade-cams I think you should have tried rotating about the nade while in flight just to give an even better effect - just on one or two of them. Or you could have set up a flying camera that would always focus on the nade from start to end (did I ever document that feature in ReFrag ? hmmm)
Too bad about the Fragmessage error in with FrGzR's and Grim Reaper's names. I kept wondering who the hell "F" was - but that's my fault and not yours :(
Knowing the players it annoyed me a bit that so many chose to play in female skins...
BUT apart from the above... Very Good Movie ! Good Job ! It's a keeper - definately!
...and to hairyanimal who couldn't tell if there was skill in the frags or not.... there was PLENTY skill !
GOTTA LOVE THIS GAME !!!!!
Oops... late for work...

i liked the intro and the outro. The middle looked the same to me, all frags portrayed 1st person / same map etc
Usualy i watch chicanes movies for the nice effects he has up his sleeves cause the frags he tends to use arn't my type (dnt like them :P). Anyways, i thought this would have real nice fragsas loads of top players was in it. But cause it was a dm competition, ther was SO much spray and pray.
Anyways, I still prefer the dem movies cause they got nice effects and slightly better frags.
gj chicane though. |

Thanks for the comments all :)
Yes some content was close together, and that may've caused some confusion if it belonged together. Still i left it that way, because it fitted best with in and out points, and if 2 scenes from different players were related (took place same time), i wouldn't have used a hard cut, but added a splitscreen, but i could also have flied to the second person, but there were hardly any related scenes in it, so didn't use that 2nd thing.
Music is personal taste of course. I know many people do like it, but still i manage to choose some rarely used music, so i'm happy with that :)
I can totally imagine that people get a bit bored after 8-10 minutes. I also believe 10 minutes is somewhat the maximum length of such a movie. However, my main target group where i made this vid for, was the sofplayers.co.uk community, and i know they wouldn't mind at all (but be happy about it) that the movie has this length. Also i had plenty of interesting frags and it was quite hard for me to delete even more scenes. So therefore i violated my own guidline this one time :p
I agree on the points infrequent mentioned. Did you mean you can set the cam to follow the nade with use of the transition cam feature on page 2 of the refrag hud? Didn't even know that would be possible, because i thought free- and followcam only.
yes, plenty of skill in it: on publics i'm always in top3 on deathmatch at least, but this time i had to do my very best not to end up on the last place on the 2nd map (shop2), and that has been the last time over 4 years ago :)

Overall an entertaining movie:
+Good choice of music to fit in with the type of frags. +Intro was quite original. +Some transitions. +Recams were brilliantly placed. +Good synchronization. +Small screen of the names. +One of the first outro I've watched to the end.
+/- frags were ok, but some of them should have been cut, for example that single dead nade by red flag on jordan.
-Some cuts were too quick.
Definitely a good movie, recommanded to everyone :) |

Breathtaking vid (again) of Chicane. Must say that the previous movie of the European Champs took me more into the action and tension of the competition. This was due to comparing the 2 top players, throughout the last bit of the movie, who where in to it for first place.
Said this, its all credits for this movie. Like already said, there where some new ideas put in this vid. It amazes me, that Chicane still finds something, to give the vid that piece of "extra".
A keeper for sure.......
